We are seeking a Director of Business Development for our world leader Contract Research Organization
client that offers study services to the pharmaceutical industry.
The
incumbent will report directly to the CEO and the primary role will be to develop new business relationships compatible with
our client's current business model and long term strategic objectives. This position is expected to be very hands on
in the sales process. This position involves significant travel (50%), primarily within USA and Canada however,
the incumbent can work from their city of residence or relocate to Pittsburgh.
Requirements
- Solid understanding of the clinical development
process primarily as it relates to generic drug industry
- 5+ years business development
experience in a service related industry position preferably in the CRO Industry working with Generic Drug companies
- Prefer experience in Dermatology, GI, Allergy, Hypertension, or Pain Management fields
- Established contacts in the Pharmaceutical Industry preferably in the generic/small company area
- Solid understanding of the clinical development process primarily as it relates to generic drug industry
Responsibilities
1. Create and execute business development plan to develop new clients
2.
Generate business leads from new clients for Phase I-IV clinical trials
3. Follow up with
business leads
4. Manage sales contacts from lead generation to contract execution
5. Work with operations to respond to requests for proposals
6. Track and
follow up on proposals
7. Manage signed and unsigned backlog to ensure our client continues
to meets is revenue and income goals
8. Participate in industry conferences, exhibitions,
presentations as appropriate to meet above objectives
9. Prepare sales reports and updates
on progress bi weekly
10. Review information on client satisfaction surveys and make appropriate
changes to business development process to meet client needs
11. Meet with clients periodically
to maintain relationships
12. Be part of the senior management team that will develop strategy
and implement short and long term objectives for the successful growth of the company
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in scientific or business
discipline
Strong business, selling and analytical skills
Excellent
written and oral communication skills
Valid driver's license required
